About the Society of Women Adventurers

The Society of Women Adventurers was formed to celebrate women's adventures and explorations and share those experiences with others seeking to expand their enlightenment of the world in which we live. SWA is a non-profit organization formed in 2004 by a group of women from diverse backgrounds and a wide range of ages. The Society of Women Adventurers is comprised of women whose accomplishments demonstrate a keen sense of adventure and whose lives have taken unusual turns and women who have ignored boundaries and extended their experience beyond the ordinary. They have blazed trails, explored the unfamiliar, accumulated knowledge and lived life with an intensity and curiosity that sets them a bit apart. Membership has grown steadily due to ongoing programs of engaging speakers, stimulating topics and fascinating field trips. We are proud to count many of these distinguished women among our ranks.

Speaker

Alan Feldstein

In 1997 after falling 40 feet off a mountain rock climbing Alan Feldstein was looking for another outdoor sport to keep active.  He decided to take a kayak trip in Baja California and after seeing dolphins, whales and other sea life up close it was love at first sight.  Since then Alan has become an avid kayaker and has had opportunities to paddle all over the world.  This has allowed him to see amazing wildlife and meet amazing people along the way.  Hear Alan talk about his travel experiences including confrontations with Orcas in British Columbia, Arriving by kayak in New York City, Meeting people in Hanoi, North Vietnam and being one of the first people to kayak in Tanzania while on Safari and visiting rare Rhinos.  Alan will describe his experiences around the world and how his love of kayaking led him to these amazing experiences.
