Hear Alan talk about his travel experiences including confrontations with Orcas in British Columbia, Arriving by kayak in New York City, Meeting people in Hanoi, North Vietnam and being one of the first people to kayak in Tanzania while on Safari and visiting rare Rhinos. While Alan has been adventurous all of his life it was not until he took up rock climbing in his 30’s that his adventures really began. Rock climbing took him all over including the east buttress of Mt. Whitney, Taqhuitz and the “Gunks” in New York and eventually Mt. Kilimanjaro. After falling 40 feet and shattering his ankle Alan took up kayaking. In addition to paddling and teaching kayaking in Southern California, kayaking has taken him all over the world including Baja, the central coast of California, Cape Cod, Hawaii, Turkey, The Hudson River, Vietnam, Lake Tanganyika as well as being one of the first people to kayak off the coast of Tanzania. In addition to kayaking Alan is an avid nature photographer whose work has appeared in Wavelength Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. He has traveled extensively throughout the world. Alan is a member of the Adventurer’s Club of Los Angeles, the Explorer’s Club and is Co-Founder and U.S. Marketing Representative of Infinite Kayak Adventures – the first ever kayak and safari company in Tanzania, Africa.
